 Debbie Glossip

Certified Occupational Therapist Assistant

My initial occupation - for 20 years - was to focus full time on my family which grew from just husband and me in 1974, to include 4 children and one dog. In 1994, I began working as an educational assistant in the school district where I live. Following years of enjoyment of working in the field special education, I acquired specialized training in the Occupational Therapy Assistant Program at Arapahoe Community College. Highland Elementary is where I chose to work following my graduation in 2002. My privilege is to collaborate with staff and families to help students develop "skills for the job of living" through adaptive behaviors, problem solving , use of assistive technology, development of large and small muscle skills, and the ability to complete sequences and make transitions. Besides my occupation, I enjoy spending time with my family (my son and daughters, son-in-law, grandson, my parents, four siblings and their spouses, 14 nieces and nephews, 4 great nieces and nephews) and friends. Activities in my church are also a privilege, especially coordinating and working in the nursery.
