Highland has an excellent special education department that offers a variety of services to meet a child’s individual needs. Our program works with students who have mild/moderate learning disabilities to students who require more intensive services. Students are instructed in their regular education classrooms, as well as in the Learning Support Services classrooms depending on their academic, social/emotional, communication and fine/gross motor skills. Our staff includes 3 special education teachers, two part-time speech therapists, a part-time school psychologist, a part-time occupational therapist and paraprofessionals.
