Highland’s Spelling club is held in early winter for students in grades 4-5 who demonstrate a high aptitude in spelling and an interest in increasing their knowledge of correct spelling, root words and origins, and reading and writing vocabularies.

Students study words from the Merriam-Webster “Spell It!” word lists. Highland will send three Spelling Club members to the District Spelling Bee usually held in February.
