 Highland Hoppers

The “Highland Hoppers” are a demonstration jump rope team sponsored by the American Heart Association. We are invited to local Elementary Schools to perform for them to get them excited about jumping rope and their upcoming Jump Rope for Heart events. Our goal is to teach people how to have a healthy lifestyle and help fight heart disease and stroke thru exercise.

In order to make the “Highland Hoppers” team, students are required to perform a very difficult jump rope routine two times without any mistakes. Most team members are in grades 2-5. We practice three times a week before school and many members of our team also practice on their own time at home and during their recesses at school. The team members practice perfecting their skills and learn new skills to create their own individual, partner and group routines.

The “Highland Hoppers” are a very dedicated group of students who serve as positive role models. They not only promote heart healthy exercise but are great ambassadors of Highland Elementary School.
