Five years ago Highland Elementary School implemented a new program called Peace Pals. The Peace Pal program is a peer program where 4th and 5th grade students are chosen as “Peace Pals” and then facilitate activities in the classrooms, K-5th. The Peace Pals meet with Ms. Bobzien and Ms. Woodward to plan activities that promote peace and cultural awareness.
Last year our focus was “Games Around the World” celebrating ways in which we are the SAME and ways in which we are DIFFERENT from students around the world in the type of games that we play. This year the Peace Pals are coordinating a project that focuses on “Schools Around the World” and how we are the SAME, yet DIFFERENT, from students in other countries and their school experience.
The Peace Pals meet with Ms. Bobzien during their lunch/recess to plan and coordinate activities.
