Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports (PBIS)

Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports

PBIS is a framework and philosophy that promotes positive school culture, social-emotional learning, and effective interventions for behavior problems. LPS started implementing PBIS in 2007 and many LPS schools are using the model, which includes developing a common language, setting clear expectations, teaching social and emotional skills, reinforcing positive behaviors, and creating standard protocols for behavior intervention. You may recognize PBIS mottos and slogans such as PR2, The Keys to Success, RAMS Pride, or PAWS used by LPS schools. Training is provided for teachers and staff regarding PBIS philosophy and tools. Parents can get involved by participating in a PBIS committee, helping organize school assemblies, or helping develop recognition for students and staff.
