Immunizations

LPS will implement its immunization policy and follow state law as written.

Board Policy, JLCB

The Board directs the superintendent or designee(s) to annually provide parents/guardians of each student enrolled in the district a copy of the standardized immunization document developed by the Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment. The standardized immunization document includes a list of required and recommended immunizations and the age at which each immunization should be given.

No student is permitted to attend or continue to attend any school in this district without meeting the legal requirements of immunization against disease unless the student has a valid exemption for medical or non-medical (religious or personal) reasons.

Students who do not submit an up-to-date certificate of immunization or a written letter confirming the date of appointment for required immunization(s) or a valid exemption will be suspended and/or expelled from school according to this policy’s accompanying regulation.

All information distributed to parents/guardians by the district will inform them of their rights to seek an exemption from immunization requirements.

Compliance with the immunization expectations is required for enrollment and attendance in LPS schools, unless the student has a valid exemption for medical or non-medical reasons.

Per state law and LPS board policy, students who remain non-compliant with their immunizations will be excluded from school.  Beginning November 1, 2024, students without compliant immunization records and/or exemptions will not be permitted to attend school.

Colorado law requires all students attending Colorado schools and licensed child cares to be vaccinated against certain diseases unless a medical or non-medical exemption is filed.  For more information about vaccine requirements, resources and exemptions, please visit the Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment’s School Immunization page.

Additionally, please see the following links for more information on the 2024–2025 requirements for K–12 and Preschool.

To complete a nonmedical exemption, you must submit a Certificate of Nonmedical Exemption. Nonmedical exemptions must be submitted annually at every new school year (July 1 through June 30 of the following year). There are two ways to file a nonmedical exemption.

  • File the Certificate of Nonmedical Exemption WITH a signature from an immunizing provider, OR
  • File the Certificate of Nonmedical Exemption received upon the completion of the CDPHE online education module. Downloadable certificates and the CDPHE online education module are available at cdphe.colorado.gov/vaccine-exemptions.
